We seek experienced and enthusiastic Staff Specialists passionate about practicing holistic general medicine, teaching and mentoring junior medical staff, and contributing to quality improvement in a growing general medicine department.

Who are we? Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital and major referral centre. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community. We strive to provide excellent inpatient and ambulatory care to the 250,000-strong population of southern Tasmania. General medicine is the largest inpatient department in the hospital with excellent subspecialty support and opportunities for clinicians to be involved in research, clinical redesign, and quality improvement. Staff specialists are actively involved in the training of basic and advanced physician trainees and the supervision of international medical graduates. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of an evolving department and contribute to positive change in the Tasmanian health system.

The Role
• You will have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in General and Acute Medicine.
• Contribute to the provision of high-quality inpatient and outpatient care to public and private patients of the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) in General Medicine.
• Contribute to the Department of General Medicine’s afterhours and weekend roster.
• Provide professional leadership to medical, nursing, and allied health staff and foster interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Be actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as trainee and IMG supervision and mentoring
• Be involved in research and undertake quality improvement activities.
• Actively support and participate in service development to improve current services and develop new services in the Department of General Medicine.
