The Organisation
You will join a health service providing services to a fast-growing regional area, serving a population of approximately 219,000 residents.

Across the Health Service, a range of specialty services are provided including acute care, surgical, medical, maternity, mental health rehabilitation and aged care services. The hospital provides care in some major adult specialties and provides support to the surrounding smaller rural hospitals in the region. 

The region is well known for its relaxed lifestyle, natural beauty and local attractions. The Coast includes the world-heritage-listed Fraser Island, which has a unique and unspoilt landscape including rainforests with abundant freshwater lakes and crystal-clear creeks. From July to November, during their annual migration, Humpback whales take time out in the protected waters. The whales perform a variety of behaviours providing a spectacular display for visitors and locals.

The Job 
- This is a permanent full-time position 80 hours per fortnight
- You will join a collegiate team of 13 physicians with special interests including gastroenterology, geriatrics, renal, endocrinology, cardiology and respiratory medicine
- A special interest in respiratory, cardiology, or rheumatology is highly desirable but not essential
- As a Consultant in General Medicine, you will provide high-quality clinical and non-clinical services to directly or indirectly benefit the patients
- You will have the opportunity to conduct research as well as teach the health professionals of the future
- You will also contribute to improvements in the quality of service by participating in clinical audits and clinical meetings within the department
- Demonstrate your leadership skills by providing clinical governance and supervising staff reporting to you, including junior medical staff
- Opportunity to participate in and facilitate educational activities in the department

Requirements  
Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent
