Expression of Interest – General Physician Fellows to join the Advanced Training Committee in General & Acute Care MedicineNew

Listed 12 January 2026

The Advanced Training Committee (ATC) in General and Acute Care Medicine (GACM) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from General Physician fellows to join the Committee as an Appointed Member.

There are currently two Fellow positions vacant on the Training Committee in the role of Appointed Member.

One of the main roles of the ATC is to monitor and assess individual trainee progress in General and Acute Care Medicine for Australia, including assessing various types of applications such as training applications and applications for Recognition of Prior Learning.

You'll be involved in reviewing and monitoring the training program requirements, assessment and curricula in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society and other stakeholders, and recommending changes to the College Education Committee via the Adult Medicine Division Education Committee.

This is a great opportunity for Fellows who are willing to support current GACM Advanced Trainees and the training program. In this role, you'll help shape the physicians of the future and positively contribute to the direction, workforce and culture of the program in Australia.

Other key responsibilities of the Training Committee include but are not limited to:

  • monitor training of, and provide support to, supervisors in GACM
  • accredit Advanced Training sites or programs in GACM, including conducting site accreditation visits
  • advise on matters relating to Overseas Trained Physicians, as requested
  • modify individual training requirements, as appropriate, in accordance with College policies and procedures
  • assess and provide advice on specialist recognition as General Physician for Fellows in the Medicine Division who have not completed the GACM Advanced Training program
  • review Advanced Training Research Projects
  • attend meetings, held 3 times per year — 2 of which may be face-to-face (usually in March and November), with the remaining meetings held via videoconference

For more information regarding the roles and composition of the Training Committee, please refer to the Terms of Reference.

If you're successful, you will join the ATC for a 3-year term that can be renewed for a further term.

Fellows who are interested are invited to submit the expression of interest form (DOC) and CV to [email protected]

Expression of Interest – General Medicine Advanced Trainees to join the Training Program Committee in General & Acute Care MedicineNew

Listed 12 January 2026

Expressions of interest are open for General & Acute Care Medicine (GACM) Advanced Trainees to join the Training Program Committee (TPC) in GACM.

The TPC in GACM is seeking expressions of interest from first- or second-year Advanced Trainees to join as the Advanced Trainee Representative.

The College recognises that trainees, as future Fellows, play an important role in the training program. Trainees are involved in all areas of governance to represent the views of their fellow trainees.

As an Advanced Trainee (AT) Representative, you'll also gain insight into how the training committee makes decisions to support individual trainees’ progression throughout their training.

Other key responsibilities of the Training Committee include but are not limited to:

  • attending Committee meetings
  • providing trainee perspectives on issues of concern
  • representing trainees’ interests
  • advocating on behalf of trainees

The Committee usually holds 2 face-to-face meetings in March and November and 1 further video conference a year.
